At home when I use Maps on my iPod touch to check my current location, it reports, after a long search, that I’m about 400 miles west of my actual location, which I always chalked up to some neighbor’s wireless router having been registered before they moved. Well, a friend brought his WiFi iPad over the other day, and it quickly reported the correct location within a blue circle that’s about a block in diameter. Why don’t the two machines agree? Isn’t this all based on Skyhook-registered routers?
There was a post on MacIntouch the other day describing quasi-spooky iPad location magic. |
